if its for ru personal use u dont have to talk to any 1 till its done…then it will b inspected…..call ur local dmv to find out details in ur area
Are you going to take out passengers? If you take out more then 6 passengers for hire you need to have the boat built and inspected to USCG standards. If it is for personal use you do not have to have it inspected. The DMV has no authority over boat construction or usage, other then registration in many states. There are many companies that sell plans and kits for people to make their own boats. Just Google boat plans.
in the united states, it’s the United States Coast Guard.

but be aware that they only have regulatory authority for boats built by commercial boatbuilders.
