I have never fished the Missouri. But i do catfish. I usually use a rig, not sure what it is called but here is a description.
I tie on a 6″ Steel Leader and leave about 6-12″ of line below it. I tie a 2oz weight to the end of the Line. I use a medium sized treble hook and put some chiken liver on it. Chiken Liver is cheap and can be bought at the grocerie store, idk who eats it though.
